Many people in Seoul travel by foot via the subway and bus. It makes perfect sense that comfort is important to Seoulites. While slip-ons, flats, and sandals are comfortable footwear alternatives to heels and dress shoes, athletic shoes/sneakers populate Seoul’s streets. In Korean fashion, athletic shoes are not just for a workout in racer back tops and yoga pants; Seoulites take their running shoes out on a brisk walk even when they are dressed for a less-athletic occasion.

Here are SeoulSync’s fashion picks of the week:

Jeans and Nikes? Normally, we would say no, but this Seoulite is definitely rockin’ those kicks.

This Seoulite is probably wearing one of the most comfortable “heels” yet. Can you see that the heel is elevated slightly?

Everything is so tailored, and then you see the Nikes. Looks like this style is pretty mainstream in Seoul.

Skinny jeans/jeggings accentuate the presence of a slight “heel.”

This Seoulite wears sneakers with a long dress!

This Seoulite looks comfortable and relaxed in what could have been a more formal outfit had she worn heels.

Destroyed denim jeans and sneakers grunge up this look.

Not feeling those heels or oxfords in the closet? Feel comfortable taking your sneakers out for the day!
Stay tuned for another post next week!
